The Euro 2020 qualifiers began in March and will continue to the end of November. Currently, the seventh of ten matchdays is underway. As it stands, England, Ukraine, the Netherlands, Ireland, Croatia, Spain, Poland, France, Belgium, Russian and Italy look likely to qualify with several other spots still up for grabs. A total of 20 teams will progress to the tournament through the qualifiers. The remaining four spots will be decided through the 2018-19 Nations League, with play-off games being played in March 2020.

The draw

Although the date for the Euro 2020 draw has not yet been announced, it will likely be done in early 2020, possibly March. As the tournament format remains the same, the draw will likely feature four seeding pots, as was the case for the 2016 draw.

The hosts

The favourites

There are several teams who have looked dominant in qualifiers and who will go into the tournament with momentum. France, however will no doubt be the favourites after winning the 2018 World Cup and retaining much of the squad that secured the accolade.

Other tournament favourites that have shown great form include Belgium, Spain, England, Portugal, Italy and World Cup runners-up Croatia. Sweden, Denmark, Switzerland and Wales are dark horse favourites and may be worth a look at.
