Express eager to build winning run

Express FC made a slow start to their Uganda Premier League title defence losing their opening two games this season.

They have since won two of their subsequent four games drawing the others with the latest being Saturday's goalless draw against traditional rivals SC Villa.

Head coach Wasswa Bbosa now wants his side to build a winning run as they attempt to catch with leaders KCCA who currently eight points ahead after six games.

"The season is still young because we have played just six games. Our target is to go on a winning run of about seven games," Bbosa said of Saturday's result played at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.

Bossa is also keen to improve their efficiency in front of goal having fluffed several goal scoring opportunities.

"We got chances to win the game but didn't take them. We are going to continue working on our finishing. We'll get back to winning ways," he stated.

Winger Martin Kizza got the clearest of them all, an early chance after seven minutes getting onto an Erick Kambale pass on the left and shooting on target but SC Villa goalkeeper Meddie Kibirige was on hand to push his shot away.

Goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa was also called into action making two saves in either half. Both teams also had strong penalty claims turned down by centre referee Ali Sabila.

The Red Eagles next face Wakiso Giants at home on Friday.
