The Uganda women's 3x3 national team will be hoping to clinch a spot at 2019 FIBA 3X3 World Cup when the take part in the qualifiers in Puerto Rico this weekend.
It was an easy decision for the coaches as they selected the same team that represented the country at last year's world cup.
Claire Lamunu, Jamilah Nansikombi, Rita Imanishimwe and Sarah Ageno travelled Wednesday night and will be looking at finishing among the top three to have a chance of competing at the world cup again.
It is an experienced group of players as the four are some of the most highly rated players on the continent.
At the flag off, the team promised to give it their best shot with a sole target of making the world cup scheduled for later this year.
The qualifiers are scheduled for this weekend May 4-5 in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Uganda is ranked 21st in the world standings and will be in Pool A alongside Estonia (7th) Australia (27th) and the hosts Puerto Rico (63rd).
Pool B has Brazil, Spain, New Zealand and Mali.

Pool winners will directly qualify for the semifinals while the 2nd and 3rd-placed teams in each pool play a quarterfinal with the winners advancing to the semifinals.
The winners of the semi-finals will qualify directly to the FIBA 3×3 World Cup. The two losing semi-finalists will play a decider game for the final qualifying spot.
The 3x3 World Cup is slated for June 18-23, 2019 in the Netherlands.
