2019/20 FA Cup
Third Round Proper (Last 64)
4-6 January 2020
The Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton will have a new chapter written into its history when the clubs meet for a Third Round clash in the FA Cup, with the match scheduled for Sunday 5 January 2020, kick-off at 19:01.
Liverpool have been in sublime form through December, winning the FIFA Club World Cup and continuing their domination of the Premier League. The FA Cup will only be third on their list of priorities, but the fact that the match is against Everton ramps up the desire for victory.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp says he is looking forward to the tie with their Merseyside rivals: “I have no problem playing Everton: it’s a big game, they’re a great team and a great club, big opponents, but it’s for us and them the first round and then you play immediately [a big tie].”
Everton come into the clash on the back of a 2-1 loss away to Manchester City in a midweek Premier League clash, though they again put on a performance which demonstrated their progress since parting ways with Marco Silva.

New Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti knows that winning away to their local rivals will be a tough task, but insists anything can happen in a cup tie.
“I know how much the supporters of this club want to beat Liverpool and we don’t have long to wait to put the matter to the test,” the Italian said. “I would not describe a trip to Anfield as mission impossible, nothing is impossible in football.”
In head-to-head terms, Liverpool and Everton have met in 193 previous matches. The Reds have claimed 77 wins compared to 52 for the Toffees, while 64 games have been drawn.
The teams met just last month in the Premier League, with Liverpool romping to a 5-2 home win thanks to goals from Divock Origi, Xherdan Shaqiri, Sadio Mane and Georginio Wijnaldum. The last FA Cup clash between the pair was in January 2018, with the Reds winning 2-1 at Anfield.
