2019/20 Premier League
Round 22
10-12 January 2020
Crystal Palace will look to claim the scalp of London rivals Arsenal when the teams meet for a
Premier League clash at Selhurst Park on Saturday 11 January 2020, kick-off at 15:30. The match is one of 10 spread across the weekend of 10-12 January for Round 22 of the current English top-flight season.
Palace’s last Premier League outing saw them play to a 1-1 draw away to Norwich City on New Year’s Day, with Connor Wickham netting a late equaliser for the Eagles, who come into this clash one point and one position above 10th-place Arsenal.
The busy schedule in England at this time of year has taken its toll on all teams – Palace included – and manager Roy Hodgson wants to see authorities ease up due to the demand placed on players.
“If you want me to add my voice to the other managers interviewed saying 'this is not correct, we can’t be asking the people with the intensity of today, we’re playing so many matches in such a short space of time', I’m the last one who will say I don’t agree,” explained Hodgson. "It’s a simple statement of fact, but radical changes would need to be made.”

Arsenal’s last top-flight outing saw them claim a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Manchester United last midweek, with the Gunners looking far more resilient and determined under new manager Mikel Arteta.
Captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang said: “As soon as Arteta got here, he put things on the table. He made it clear what he expected from us and that it was non-negotiable. Everyone has got to work. Everyone wanted to make an effort because we have pride there, too. We wanted to regain the taste for victory and please our supporters.”
In head-to-head terms, Palace and Arsenal have met in 39 previous matches. The Gunners have claimed 24 wins compared to just four for the Eagles, while 11 games have been drawn.
One of those 11 was in the teams’ most recent meeting, a Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium in October 2019 which ended 2-2: Arsenal led by two goals, but conceded to Luka Milivojevic and Jordan Ayew to settle for a share of the spoils.
