Express leads Uganda Cup round-of-32 cast

There is no doubt Express enjoy playing in the Uganda Cup having won a joint high 10 titles.

The Red Eagles also did enjoy their round-of-64 game to lead a cast of 10 topflight teams into the round of 32 stage with a dominant 3-0 win over third tier St. Mary’s at the Betway Muteesa II Stadium on Sunday evening.

Frank Ssenyondo with his seventh of the campaign, captain Disan Galiwango and Doka Mweru scored within the opening 50 minutes in the rout of the Kampala Regional League side.

The win handed the George Ssimwogerere coaches side what should be one of the easiest games they will play this season with goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga a virtual spectator for much of the game.

The result helped Express win back to back games for the second time this season having also defeated Proline by the same 3-0 scoreline the week before.

Express is now joined by KCCA, the joint most successful side at the next stage with Wakiso Giants, Maroons, Bright Stars, Kyetume, URA, Mbarara, and Tooro United the other topflight clubs to make it.

Defending champions Proline also went through edging Katwe United 2-1. Last season Express fell at the penultimate stage of the competition going down on penalties to Bright Stars.
