Charles Leclerc looks to build on solid France outing

2019 Formula 1 season, Round 8

French Grand Prix

Circuit Paul Ricard, Le Castellet

Sunday 23 June

Charles Leclerc will look to build on his solid outing at the French Grand Prix when the 2019 Formula 1 season hosts Round 8 at the Circuit Paul Ricard, Le Castellet on Sunday 23 June.

Leclerc came home in third place in Montreal earlier this month, putting in a fine performance which was overshadowed by the controversy of a penalty handed to his teammate Sebastian Vettel.

Charles Leclerc will hope Ferrari have the pace to challenge for victory

Being somewhat out of the limelight probably suits Leclerc, who is in just his second season in Formula 1 and still adjusting to the demands of racing for one of the top teams.

The Monegasque will hope that he can continue climbing up the Drivers’ Championship standings, with his next aim overtaking fourth-place Max Verstappen, who is 16 points ahead of him in the standings.

Ferrari have won the most races at the French GP, 17.

The impressive straight-line speed Ferrari showed in Montreal should served them well on the fast and flowing Circuit Paul Ricard, with Leclerc hoping that he and Vettel can challenge the dominance of the Mercedes.
