Betway Kobs to start Uganda Cup defence against Mbale

Betway Kobs will start their defence of the Uganda Cup trophy with an away fixture against Mbale Elephants later this month.
 
The Uganda Cup opens the competitions’ calendar and Kobs will be looking to reproduce the form they used to lift last year’s crown.
 
By winning the National Sevens Series in late August, Kobs confirmed lifting of two of the three major titles on the calendar.
 
The Legends outfit only fell short in the league where they finished second behind eventual winners Hima Cement Heathens.


 
For local rugby fans, the attention has been on just the ongoing Rugby World Cup in Japan and the return of the Uganda Cup will present an opportunity to catch a glimpse of local rugby.
 
The Uganda Cup action kicks off on October 26 at eight different venues. Last year’s top eight sides will visit the last eight in the first round of the action.

While holders and seven-time winners Kobs kick start their title campaign in Mbale, runners up Stanbic Bank Pirates will visit debutants Kisubi Pacers.
 
Heathens, who fell to Kobs in the semis last year, will travel to Makerere for a clash with newly promoted Impis. Toyota Buffaloes will make a long trip to Gulu for a clash with Gulu Elephants in Northern Uganda.


 
DusuPay Warriors will cross from Legends to Kyadondo to face Stallions while Kyambogo will host Shell Rimula Rhinos. Walukuba Barbarians play Entebbe side Plascon Mongers in Jinja while Jinja Hippos host Rams.
