2018/19 UEFA Champions League Final
Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool FC
Estadio Wanda Metropolitano, Madrid, Spain
Saturday, 01 June 2019
Kick-off 22h00
When
Tottenham Hotspur take the pitch this Saturday at the Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid, they will be attempting to win their first-ever Champions League, and against Liverpool, an opponent that they know very well.
Liverpool are an impressive team, finishing second in the league behind Manchester City with 97 points and only one loss. And Spurs have faced off against the Reds twice in the Premier League this season, both close-fought 2-1 defeats at Wembley Stadium and Anfield respectively.
So, Spurs are certainly up against it and if they are going to lift the trophy they are going to have to play their best football. A big positive for them, though, is the fact that both Harry Kane and Jan Vertonghen look fighting fit for the tie after recently being injured.
Still, Spurs deserve their spot in the final after coming out of a group that included Barcelona, Inter Milan, and Dutch champions PSV. Then over two legs they defeated Bundesliga runners-up Dortmund, Premier League winners Manchester City, and the current Dutch champions Ajax.

Liverpool, though, have been no slugs themselves with their most impressive showing coming in the second leg semifinal against Barcelona which saw them score four goals, overcoming a 3-0 loss in the first leg.
Their biggest threats in attack will be the African duo Senegal’s Sadio Mane and Egyptian Mohamed Salah, who between them have scored eight goals in this season’s Champions League.
Salah, in particular, will be looking to make up for last year’s Champions League final which saw him substituted due to injury as Liverpool lost to Real Madrid.
Statistically, Liverpool have the edge having met Tottenham in 156 previous matches across all competitions. The Reds have dominated the rivalry, claiming 73 wins compared to 43 for Spurs, while 40 matches have been drawn.
