Ronaldo has appeared in 124 Champions League fixtures while Messi has appeared in 109. Both however pale in comparison to the 177 appearances by Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas. In fact, the pair rank just 5th and 28th respectively in all-time Champions League appearances.

This is one that Messi is unlikely to ever surpass considering he has played for Barcelona virtually his entire career. Ronaldo however has scored for Manchester United and Real Madrid in the Champions League. Additionally with his recent move to Juventus, he has the chance to score for a third. However, even if he does score for Juventus, he will still have a long way to go. The record is currently held by Zlatan Ibrahimović who has scored a Champions League goal for six different clubs (Ajax, Juventus, Internazionale, Barcelona, Milan, Paris Saint-Germain).

However, although the pair dominate the all-time record, the record for the fastest hat-trick in a Champions League game belongs to Bafétimbi Gomis.
