Ducati rider Johann Zarco will be eager to win the Catalan MotoGP title when he competes at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on June 6.

The French star missed out on a podium finish for the third time this season when he finished fourth in the most recent race which was the Italian MotoGP on May 30.

Prior to that, Zarco had finished second in three races this term and he is among the riders challenging for the 2021 MotoGP world title.

The Italian MotoGP was won by Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo, who continued his good form in the current campaign.

Miguel Oliviera of KTM secured a second-place finish and reigning MotoGP world champion Joan Mir of Suzuki finished third.

Quartararo is still sitting at the top of the Riders' standings, while the Ducati duo of Zarco and Francesco Bagnaia are placed second and third respectively on the table.

Zarco is now 24 points behind leader Quartararo and he will be looking to climb to the top of the standings by winning the Catalan MotoGP.

The 30-year-old reflected on the Italian MotoGP where he collided with Enea Bastianini and he was glad the Avintia rookie wasn’t seriously injured.

"A lot of things happened. Even before the start, Bastianini hit me. We're all coming out of that last corner, accelerating, braking to keep the tyres warm and to be ready for the start," Zarco said.

“And... you can see the picture now [he's looking at a TV screen]... wow... well, the important thing is that he didn't get hurt. But I thought that my bike, as he hit me, was going to be ruined for the race.

“I looked at my saddle, I saw that it was OK, I took the start. The start wasn't great, but I was able to hold my position.”

Yamaha are placed at the top of Constructors' Championship standings and they are followed by Ducati and Suzuki respectively.
