VFL Wolfsburg will square off with Borussia Dortmund in a
German Bundesliga match at the Volkswagen Arena on May 23.
The Wolves secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Augsburg away in a match which was played on May 16.
Wolfsburg returned to winning ways in the league having registered two draws in a row before taking on Augsburg.
They are now undefeated in their last three home matches in the Bundesliga having recorded two draws and one victory.
Meanwhile, Dortmund brushed aside a hapless Schalke 04 side 4-0 at home in a match which was played on May 16.
It was the Black and Yellows' fifth successive win in the league. They are also undefeated in their last five games in the competition.
Moreover, they are unbeaten in their previous two away matches in the Bundesliga having recorded two wins over Borussia Mochengdlabach and Werder Bremen.
Julian Brandt, the Dortmund forward, believes they can build on their impressive win over Schalke as they take aim at Wolfsburg.
"We performed well, even if it wasn't perfect. In the second half in particular, we should've tried to keep the level up," Brandt said.
"But we made it 3-0 relatively quickly; that played into our hands. Towards the end our energy levels dwindled. I thought it was good for the first game after such a long time. We can build on this."
The last time Wolfsburg faced Dortmund in a league match was on 2 November 2019. The Black and Yellows recorded a comfortable 2-0 win over the Wolves in a match which was played at the Signal Iduna Park.
