Wokorach Inspires Rugby Cranes Win Over Tunisia

Uganda 78-17 Tunisia
Kenya 45-25 Senegal
Namibia 31-26 Zimbabwe
Philip Wokorach crossed the white wash thrice on Saturday as the Rugby Cranes obliterated Tunisia in the Africa Gold Cup.
The full back recovered from his lackluster display in Senegal to score 31 points just a night after he was crowned as the USPA rugby player of the year. The Cranes subjected Tunisia to their third defeat in a row as the North Africans ended their unforgettable seven days in Uganda.

Tries from Philip Wokorach (3), Ivan Magomu, Mathias Ochwo, Alex Mubiru, Solomon Okia, Charles Uhuru, Michael Wokorach, Pius Ogena, James Odong and team captain Brian Odong delivered Uganda’s second win of the campaign. Wokorach opened the scoring early in the game before Uhuru and the two Odongs (Brian and James), Ivan Magomu and Alex Mubiru all touched down in the first half as the Cranes cruised. John Duncan’s charges went into the halftime break with a 43-00 lead.
The Cranes started the second period with the same momentum that climaxed the first stanza as Michael Wokorach opened the scoring, breaking the Tunisia line to cross the line. Philip Wokorach made no mistake with the extras as Uganda reached the half century mark. Ogena, Ochwo, Philip and Okia all touched down as Uganda registered their biggest win in international rugby. The win was Uganda’s second in a row having defeated Senegal 18-17 in Dakar two weeks ago.

Uganda is still unbeaten and remain third on the six-team log having collected 11 points from the first three games. Namibia came from behind to defeat Zimbabwe 31-26 and stay top of the log with 15 points after winning all their three games with bonus points. Kenya defeated Senegal 45-25 in Nairobi to remain second on 13 points. Uganda will face off with Namibia this Saturday in their forth and second last game of the campaign.
