Villa made it four wins from four games thanks to a late Ross Barkley winner away to Leicester City this past weekend to move up to second spot on the log standings.

"We take it one game at a time as always," Villa manager Dean Smith said in the aftermath.

"We never get too high when winning and never got too low last season fighting relegation. We have to stay on an even keel.

"This was a big win, I know they had some players missing but if you are off your game at any stage in the Premier League you can get a bloody nose very quickly.

"It was a very tight game, a scrappy game at times. It needed a little bit of quality to win the game and Ross certainly showed that at the end."

Leeds head into the fixture on the back of a 1-0 home loss to Wolves at Elland Road. Last season's Championship winners had put together a three-game unbeaten run and were arguably the better team for the majority of the match, but Raul Jimenez's strike earned the visitors all three points.

The most recent meeting between the two sides at Villa Park ended in a 3-2 win for Leeds in 2018 with both teams still competing in the Championship at the time. Villa won the most recent Premier League meeting between the two clubs in 2004 with goals from Juan Angel and Ronny Johnson leading the hosts to victory.
