Vettel secured his maiden podium finish of the 2020 season when he finished third at the recent Turkish Grand Prix, but he is still placed 13th on the Drivers' Championship standings.

The race was won by Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez of Racing Point finished second.

Hamilton, who has been crowned 2020 Formula One world champion, is sitting at the top of this year's Drivers’ Championship standings.

His teammate Valtteri Bottas is placed second on the Drivers' Championship standings, while Red Bull's Max Verstappen is sitting on the third spot.

Vettel believes he could have won the Turkish Grand Prix if he had swapped onto a set of dry tyres.

"[With] 20 laps to go I was thinking of the dry tyres because the circuit was constant, the tyres were worn anyway so I thought maybe we would have slicks," Vettel said.

"It is just nobody dared to put them on and there was some rain forecast in the end that didn't come.

"I would have really liked to have put them on because I think that could have been a chance to win but, equally happy with third."

Mercedes, who have been crowned 2020 Formula One world constructors champions, are placed at the top of the standings with an unassailable lead of 504 points.

They are followed by second-placed Red Bull and third-placed Racing Point, who have accumulated 240 points and 154 points with three races remaining.
