Van Pee wins MX1 title

The national motocross team captain lifted his fifth with a commanding display at Garuga over the weekend.

With 11-time champion Arthur Blick retiring from the sport and veteran Asaf Natan barely available for the bigger part of the season, Van Pee has had no competition throughout the season.

Little wonder the champion pointed to the fact that organisers have to find a solution for the lack of competition in the MX1 category.

“We need to look at our local rules to come to terms with what is on the ground. If you look at categories MX2 and MX1, the level of competition is down,”
He said after the victory.

In the last race of the MX1 on the final day, Fortune Sentamu joined in to give the old guard some competition and this kept the fans on their feet.

There was more competition in the MX125 as Ali ‘Bobo’ Omar and Fortune challenged each other.

Gift Ssebuguzi, William Blick Jr and Ashraf Mbabazi were also crowned winners in the their respective categories.
