UPL makes early return

The Uganda Premier League is set to return this weekend, 54 days after the last match was played between Vipers and  Busoga United.

Following Uganda's early elimination at the chan tournament, the league return is six days earlier than planned.

Reigning champions Vipers whose continental excursions saw them miss the opening two match-days will play two of the rescheduled games starting with a home game against newly promoted Myda on Saturday February 09.

The other rescheduled game also involves Vipers who will this time travel to the Betway Muteesa II Stadium on February 09 to play six-time champions Express FC.

The three teams Vipers, MYDA and Express are the only ones to have played less than five games by the time the league went into break on December 20.

Express are sixth on the 16-team log with eight points from four games and are one of five unbeaten sides.

Vipers are 8th while MYDA are 14th with 8, 7 and 1 point respectively.

Express have again been active in the transfer market signing experienced playmaker Muzamir Mutyaba who has been a free agent since leaving KCCA.

They are also expected to officially announce the capture of former Vipers captain Geoffrey Wasswa and former SC Villa winger Martin Kizza in the next few days.
