The Red Devils bounced back from a 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace with a hard fought 3-2 win over Brighton & Hove Albion last weekend, in a game where the Seagulls hit the woodwork on five occasions.

A controversial penalty, after the final whistle, from United midfielder Bruno Fernandes sealed all three points for the visitors who will be hoping for an improved performance this weekend.

"I think football has changed," United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjær said. "There are no fans, it's a different game. Pre-season we were at different stages, the new handball rule... you never know what's going to happen."

"You can look back at the performance, especially in the last 20-25 minutes when we didn't really get hold of the ball and control the game when we were winning 2-1," Solskjaer said.

"But then again it's three points - the reaction after conceding was fantastic and there are some positives. We've got to be happy."

In contrast, Spurs conceded a late penalty following VAR review in a 1-1 draw at home to Newcastle United last time out. Tottenham were the better team throughout but squandered a catalogue of chances as they failed to build on their 5-2 win over Southampton the week before.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho was understandably infuriated by the decision and took a subtle dig at his former employers in build-up to this weekend's encounter.

"At some clubs, even after the last whistle, it’s possible for something important to happen, but for us I knew that after the last whistle it was over," said Mourinho.

United beat Spurs 2-1 in the corresponding fixture last season thanks to a brace from Marcus Rashford.
