Ugandan Jamal's Al-Hilal eyes Caf Champions League quarters

The race for slots to the quarterfinals of the Caf Champions League comes to a close this weekend when actions in four groups concludes.

Six of the available eight places have already been taken in Groups A, C and D with three teams still in the quest for the top two places in Group B.

Record eight-time champions Egyptian club Al-Ahly tops with 10 points with Tunisia's Etoile du Sahel and Sudanes side Al-Hilal tied on nine points, the former ahead by virtue of head-to-head advantage.

Al-Hilal, who boast of Ugandan goalkeeper face Al-Ahly in a must-win encounter at home in Omdurman with hopes of advancing while Sahel hosts bottom side FC Platinum at the Olympic Stadium in Rades on Saturday.

Jamal, who has kept five clean sheets in seven matches on the continent this season, is pillar Hilah is banking on if they are to stop Al-Ahly.

The latter are yet to win away from home in this group, evidenced by the 1-0 loss in Rades and the 1-all draw against Platinum in Bulawayo.

A draw for the Cairo-based side guarantees them a place in the last eight and Hilal can advance too if Sahel loses at home.

Elsewhere, Uganda Cranes' captain Denis Onyango with Mamelodi Sundowns will meet his former coach Desabre Sebastien who is now the boss at Moroccan outfit Wydad Casablanca.
