Uganda Rugby Sevens Scoop Bronze At Victoria Falls Sevens

The Uganda Rugby Sevens finished third at the 2018 Victoria Falls Sevens tournament in Zimbabwe over the weekend.

Having lost to neighbours Kenya in the semi-finals, what was left for Tolbert Onyango’s charges was fighting for bronze.

The side avenged their loss to Zambia (19-17) in the pools on day one with a comprehensive 31-07 victory to return with bronze.

Kevin Keremundu (2), Solomon Okia (2) and Timothy Mudoola delivered the tries in Uganda's final game at the two-day event.

Levy Amunga and Brian Wahinya scored as Kenya beat home side Zimbabwe 10-5 to win the tournament.

For Uganda, attention now turns to the HSBC World Series qualifier in Hong Kong which will be followed by the Commonwealth Games in Australia.

This year presents the Rugby Sevens Cranes with the busiest schedule ever in the history of Uganda Sevens.

Only nine days separate the World Series Qualifiers in Hong Kong and the Commonwealth Games.

After Australia, Onyango will then prepare his charges for their first-ever appearance at the Rugby Sevens World Cup set for July in San Francisco, USA.
