Uganda are set to take on Malawi in the
2022 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier Group B match on March 29.
The Cranes were held to a 0-0 draw by Burkina Faso in their most recent match which was a Group B game on March 24.
As a result, Uganda are winless in their last five matches across all competitions having registered three defeats and two draws.
The Cranes are placed second on the group standings - a point behind Burkina Faso, who have already qualified for the finals.
The East African side still has a chance of qualifying for the finals as a draw against Malawi will be enough to earn them a place in next year's tournament.
The last meeting between Uganda and Malawi was on 17 November 2019 in the 2022 AFCON qualifier.
Uganda secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Malawi in an encounter that was played at the Mandela National Stadium in Kampala.
The Cranes are winless in their last two away matches across all competitions having recorded one draw and one defeat.
Abdallah Mubiru, the Uganda interim coach, says they will be looking to secure a point when they take on Malawi away.
“The guys put up a good fight. We tried our level best to score a goal, we couldn’t," Mubiru said.
“However, mathematically, we knew even before the game that it won’t end here.
“We have to do the job in Malawi by securing at least a point. Even if we had won, we would have still wanted a point in Malawi.”
