The Uganda senior basketball team, the Silverbacks has started training ahead of the 2021 Afrobasket Qualifiers.
The team management has summoned 12 home-based players to start training immediately before joining six foreign based players in camp.
Uganda is drawn in group E with Egypt and Morocco and a team to be determined from a pre-qualifier.
Group E Qualifiers are expected to take place from November 27-29 in Alexandria, Egypt.
In head coach George Galanopoulos' absence, Mandy Juruni will be assisted by Brian Wathum and Andrew Tendo for the time being.
UCU Canons' trio of Fayed Bbale, David Deng Kongor and Titus Lual all have a chance to impress for a spot on the final team.
Ndejje University Angels' guard Innocent Ocera and City Oilers' Ivan Muhwezi are also in line for a chance to play in Egypt.
Joseph Ikong, James Okello, Ben Komakech, Geoffrey Soro, Jimmy Enabu and Tonny Drileba are the other players.
There are two new faces on the team in the shape of Ishmail Wainwright and Eric Rwahwire.
The two will be part of a planned camp in Alexandria, Egypt.
Naturalized big man Brandon Davis is out due to his commitment with his club Barcelona.
Deng Geu, Robinson Opong, Samuel Kalwanyi and Emmanuel Mugenga complete the list of the foreign players.
Uganda has qualified for and competed at the last two Afrobasket tournaments in 2015 and 2017.
The team will work out for over a month and the selected six players will travel to Egypt for a training camp with the other players.
