Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace

2020-21 Premier League, Round 27

7 March 2021
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London
Kick-off: 22:15

Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace will be geared for a Premier League London derby when they meet at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 7 March, kick-off at 22:15. The match is one of 10 for Round 27 of England’s top flight, spread from Saturday 6 to Monday 8 March 2021.

This will be a second successive capital city derby for Spurs, who will come into the game on the back of playing away to Fulham at Craven Cottage on Thursday night. Jose Mourinho’s team showed signs of being back to their best in thrashing Burnley 4-0 this past weekend, with Gareth Bale particularly influential.

“I am very happy for him [Bale], very happy for the team because the team needs his talent. He is quiet, doesn't speak to you [the media], watches, reads, listens or probably not, because he is from Real Madrid, probably ignores it a little bit,” said Mourinho of Bale after the Welshman scored twice and provided an assist.

Palace, meanwhile, are scrapping hard to ensure they remain well clear of the relegation zone, though the absence of key players such as Wilfried Zaha has hurt their ability to be effective on the counter attack in recent weeks.

“I'd have much preferred to have a week now to get people back in some sort of form, give those guys who are playing at least a few more days to possibly be ready, and most importantly give ourselves a chance to recover from two unbelievably difficult games that we've had to face against Brighton and Fulham where we've spent a lot of the time working very hard to defend our goal,” said manager Roy Hodgson.

In head-to-head stats, Tottenham and Palace have met in 58 matches across all competitions since 1906. Spurs have claimed 31 wins compared to 12 for the Eagles, while 15 games have been drawn.

When the teams met earlier this season, at Selhurst Park in December 2020, they played out a 1-1 draw: Tottenham led through Harry Kane, but Palace’s Jeffrey Schlupp netted a late equaliser.
