5. Jock Stein & Luiz Felipe Scolari (26 trophies)


Legendary Scottish coach Jock Stein is tied for fifth with Brazilian tactician Luiz Felipe Scolari, with both mentors having won 26 major trophies.

Stein, who passed away in 1985, was the first manager of a British club to win the European Cup, with Celtic in 1967, and he went to guide the Bhoys to nine successive Scottish League championships between 1966 and 1974.

Scolari has enjoyed some success at both club and national team levels, having won the Copa Libertadores with Gremio, AFC Champions League with Guangzhou Evergrande and guided Brazil to the 2002 FIFA World Cup triumph though he is currently jobless.

4. Valeriy Lobanovskyi (29 trophies)


The Ukrainian coach is widely considered as one of the greatest of all time, having won 29 major titles with his local club Dynamo Kyiv.

Lobanovskyi, who passed away in 2002, won the Soviet Top League eight times and Soviet Cup six times with Kyiv, who also became the first side from the Soviet Union to win a major European trophy when they clinched the 1975 Cup Winners' Cup and they won it again in 1986.

3. Pep Guardiola (30 trophies)


The Spanish mentor is widely regarded as the best manager in world football at the moment, having won 30 major trophies including the recent 2019/20 EFL(Carabao) Cup.

Guardiola, who is currently in charge of English champions Manchester City, also holds the record for the most consecutive league games won in Spanish La Liga, German Bundesliga and English Premier League.

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, whose the reigning FIFA World Coach of the Year, has lauded Guardiola as the best manager on the planet.

"I couldn't have more respect for Pep Guardiola, that's how it is. I've known him for so long, for me still it's a big thing to be his contender," Klopp said.

“I think Pep is the best coach in the world. Any other name could have come up [for comparison], so you do not have to compare him to Jose (Mourinho). Pep’s doing it pretty well."

2. Mircea Lucescu (32 trophies)


The Romanian tactician is one of the most decorated managers of all time, having won an impressive 32 major trophies and only one coach has lifted more titles than him.

Lucescu, who is currently jobless, enjoyed most of his success with Shakhtar Donetsk, having guided the team to eight Ukrainian Premier League titles, six Ukrainian Cups, seven Ukrainian Super Cups and the UEFA Cup.


1. Six Alex Ferguson  (49 trophies)


The retired Scottish tactician has won more trophies (49) than any other coach - making him the most successful manager in history.

Most of Ferguson's success came during his 26-year spell with Manchester United, as he won 38 trophies, including 13 English Premier League titles, five FA Cups, and two UEFA Champions League titles.
