Team work, discipline emphasized for Express ahead of new season

Express FC has been arguably the most visible Uganda Premier League side in the last couple of months.

Both mainstream and social media have been filled with news about the club from the time they started recruiting staff, coaches and players to the unveiling of the season's new kits and the sponsorship renewal with betting firm Betway.

Over the weekend, the club took preparations a notch higher with a retreat held at Lakeside Camp Resort in Mukono.

The three-day camp was aimed at creating a bond amongst the new members of the club.

Head coach Wasswa Bbosa and Betway Country manager Adellah Agaba Nyaruhuma used the opportunity to preach team work and discipline as the only way to get results on the pitch.

"This is one of a kind," Bbosa said of the camp.

"I have been at Express for a while but I have never seen such level of organisation," he added.

The former SC Villa tactician was given the liberty to sign players of his choice and brought in 18 ahead of the new season.

Agaba then appealed to the players to wear the Express jersey with pride and get results on the pitch.

"I would like for you to understand that the brand you are representing is huge and I kindly request you to be disciplined," she said.

"You can't achieve anything if you don't have discipline," she added.

The retreat was organized by the club and financed by Betway, the team's headline sponsor.

Express will open their campaign in an away encounter with Onduparaka in Arua on December 5th according to the draft fixture released by the Startimes Uganda Premier League secretariat.
