Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas will chase another epic win at the
2021 Australian Open when he faces Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the second Men’s Singles Semifinal at the 2021 Australian Open, set for the Rod Laver Arena at Melbourne Park on Friday 19 February.
The 22-year-old produced a stunning upset in coming from two sets down to defeat Rafael Nadal 3-6 2-6 7-6 6-4 7-5 in their quarterfinal, backing up earlier wins over Gilles Simon, Thanasi Kokkinakis, Mikael Ymer and Matteo Berrettini.

"I'm speechless, I have no words to describe what just happened on court," said Tsitsipas after defeating the 20-time Grand Slam champion. "My tennis speaks for itself. It is an unbelievable feeling to fight at such a level and give it my all on the court.
“I started very nervous, I won't lie. I don't know what happened after the third set. I flew like a little bird. Everything worked for me and the feelings are indescribable."
Standing in the way of a first Grand Slam final appearance for Tsitsipas is Medvedev, who booked his place in the semis with a straight sets 7-5 6-3 6-2 win over compatriot Andrey Rublev in the quarterfinals, having already eliminated Vasek Pospisil, Roberto Carballes Baena, Filip Krajinovic and Mackenzi McDonald – dropping just two sets in the process.

"To win this match in three sets, especially [with] how physical it was, was [an] amazing level from me. I'm really happy about it,” said the 25-year-old, who has one Grand Slam final under his belt, having been beaten in five sets by Novak Djokovic in the championship match at the 2019 US Open.
In head-to-head terms, Medvedev and Tsitsipas have met in six previous matches, with the Russian claiming five wins. However, the lone victory for the Greek came in the players’ most recent meeting: 7-6 6-4 in the 2019 ATP Tour World Finals.
