Ssimwogerere optimistic about Express second round performance

Express play their first game of the 2019/2020 Uganda Premier League second round with an away trip to face Busoga United on Friday evening.

After a stop-start first in which they finished 11th on the 16-team log, head coach George Ssimwogerere is optimistic the Red Eagles fans will see an improvement in their team’s results and performances.

“They have not been having experience but they have tried to catch up within a short period of time. It means we have should give them credit and show them what is supposed to be done,” Ssimwogerere explained.

“I hope now they have a difference and they will give us better performances in the second round,” he added of his young team, many of whom are playing in their maiden topflight season.

The coach also painted a picture of the injury situation at the club with a couple of players having missed large chunks of the first round.

“Most injured players are coming back even Cyrus Kibande is training now Muwanga (Mathias) is OK and is in good shape. Batega (Hamisi) had a toe problem but he’s back now and all others are responding well,” he explained.

The Express faithful will also hope the attacking trident of captain Disan Galilwango, Frank Kalanda and Frank Ssenyondo continue their sparkling first round form.

The trio combined for 17 of the 20 goals the team scored in the first round and will be key if the six-time champions are to make an impression in the second round.
