Spurs saw their keeper and captain Hugo Lloris sent off during their midweek draw with Holland’s PSV Eindhoven although will have the Frenchman available again for Monday’s visit of Manchester City. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have picked up just one point at the halfway mark in Group B in the Champions League and have serious work to do if they are to qualify for the knockout stages next year. With just one defeat from their last seven matches in all competitions, Harry Kane and co. will be confident of getting something out of Monday’s encounter against the defending Premier League champions.

Manchester City are taking this season well and truly in their stride. Pep Guardiola’s have won six of their last seven matches, since a shock 2-1 home defeat to Lyon in the Champions League on matchday 1, scoring 20 goals in the process while conceding just once. Their only dropped points in that run came from a goalless stalemate at Liverpool, whom they usurped at the summit of the table in the process, albeit on goal difference.

Manchester City recent results: (all competitions)

23/10/2018 – Shakhtar 0-3 Man City (UCL)
20/10/2018 – Man City 5-0 Burnley
07/10/2018 – Liverpool 0-0 Man City
02/10/2018 – Hoffenheim 1-2 Man City (UCL)

An interesting prospect lined up between two teams separated by just two points and four places on the Premier League table. Spurs have won two of their last three home matches against City although they were defeated in the corresponding fixture last season, played at their temporary Wembley home – as will be the case this time round once again after the opening of Tottenham’s new White Hart Lane was delayed until the new year.

The Citizens did the double over Spurs last season with German international Ilkay Gundogan scoring both home and away, ending a run of four games without a win against their North-London opponents. Christian Eriksen scored what turned out to be mere consolation goals in both of those fixtures as our attention turns to two players who could prove to be the key difference come Monday.
