Silverbacks captain Jimmy Enabu expects better display in February window

Silverbacks captain Jimmy Enabu believes the team will put up a much better display in the second window of the FIBA Afrobasket Qualifiers slated for February.

A third straight FIBA AfroBasket appearance is in sight for Uganda following the two wins registered in the first window.

"We have come up with a mission and we have set goals to be better than we were in the November window," Enabu told FIBA.basketball early this week.

"We really want to return to the AfroBasket so we are putting in the work that we need to and hopefully the results will follow," he added.

Enabu is one of the few members of the squad to have appeared at both Afrobasket events that Uganda has qualified for.

The skipper also revealed that the team's performance at the November window might have surprised some people but it's something the team has worked for.

"We did well and we prepared very well ahead of the tournament in November. Maybe, some people were surprised because they do not really know what is in Uganda but for us who are here and have seen the country growing in regards to basketball, we did not shock ourselves. It is something that we have been preparing for. One step at a time. We have been growing one day at a time."

George Gallanapolous and his charges will qualify for the finals with a single win in the next window.

Only Egypt have a better record (3-0) in the group but Uganda's record (2-1) is enough to put them second on the log and on course to qualification.

The second window of qualifiers is slated for February in Monastir, Tunisia and Uganda will again face off with giants Egypt, Morocco or Cape Verde.
