Shaban Returns As Hippos Target Cosafa Final

Cosafa Under-20 Championships fixtures

Semifinals today

South Africa vs Egypt – Nkana Stadium 2.00pm
Uganda vs Lesotho – Nkana Stadium 5.00pm

Muhammad Shaban has without a doubt been one of the standout performers at the ongoing Cosafa Under-20 Championship in Zambia. The striker is the leading scorer at the 12-team tournament thus far having netted three times to lead the Ugandan team, into the semifinals of the competition. He will consequently lead Uganda's charge as they seek to make the final when they clash with Lesotho at the Nkana Stadium in Kitwe Zambia. Shaban missed his team's final group game through suspension after he was sent off in the 1-1 draw against Swaziland.

The Hippos reached this stage after topping Group A with five points from three games that included an impressive opening 2-0 win over hosts and outgoing tournament holders Zambia. Coach Mathias Luke will be able to call on the services of forward Pius Obuya and Andrew Okiring who have recovered from injuries. Left back Mustapha Kizza is meanwhile out of contention after accumulating two yellow cards. The Hippos will play a Lesotho side that sealed their place in the semifinals following a 0-0 draw with Angola in their final Group C clash at the Nkana Stadium in Kitwe on Tuesday.

The result, coupled with another goalless draw between Zimbabwe and Namibia meant the former narrowly missed out as a result of scoring less goals. Lesotho will look up to Raboama Koloti scorer of their only two goals at the competition from a 2-1 win over Namibia.
