Sevilla FC will face off with Real Sociedad in a Spanish LaLiga match at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán on January 9.
This will be the 43rd meeting between Sevilla and Real Sociedad across all competitions since 1994.

The last league meeting between Sevilla and Sociedad was on 16 July 2020. The two teams played to a 0-0 draw in a match which was played at the Reale Arena (also known as the Anoeta Stadium).
Los Palanganas beat Villarreal 2-0 in their last home game in the league which took place on the 29th of December 2020.

On the other hand, Sociedad succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Levante in their last away match in the league which was played on December 19. The defeat extended the White and Blues' winless run to three matches on the road in LaLiga having recorded one draw and two losses.
Jokin Aperribay, the Sociedad president, has justified the recent contract renewals of club manager Imanol Alguacil and sporting director Roberto Olabe.
"We know his [Alguacil's] capacity, his career, his evolutionary ideas and we think that it is very important for the future of the Real," Aperribay said.
"And Roberto also, with his work and organizational capacity. It is very difficult to get two people [of this calibre] in these positions and at Real it is a luxury to have people like them for the future [of the club]."
