Express plotting to fry Bul in bid for Uganda Cup final place

Express will look to bury the disappointment of suffering early elimination in the Caf Champions League by reaching the final and possibly lifting the Uganda Cup.

The Red Eagles play Jinja-based side Bul in the second semifinal this evening at the Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru to determine who faces Vipers in Sunday’s final.

Coach Wasswa Bbosa is confident his charges can win to return smiles on the faces of the club’s loyal fans who have success in the Uganda Premier League and Cecafa.

“We learned several things that we must correct as a team going forward. Bul is a good team with a good coach but after being ejected from the champions league this is the game we are also targeting to restore the happiness of our fans,” Express head coach Wasswa Bbosa stated.

They were unlucky bowing out of the champions league on away goals rule winning the home leg in Kitende 2-1 before losing 1-0 in the return fixture to Sudanese side El Merreikh.

He has a fully fit squad to choose from and will also hope that recent involvement in competitive action gives them an edge against a team that is yet to play competitively in three months.

BUL coach Alex Isabirye is meanwhile hoping that favourites tag can weigh down their opponents who only returned to the country on Tuesday.

“I have no pressure. They did not ask me for titles. They want us to play good football and be a team, which is organized. Bul has been participating but I want to create a team that can compete,” Bul head coach Alex Isabirye said ahead of the game.

Isabirye also indicated that he will field several players promoted from the junior team following the departure of a number of first-team players from last season.

Interestingly, the five previous meetings between the two teams have seen each side win twice although Express showed the gulf in class between the two teams winning 4-0

Murushid Jjuujo and George Ssenkaaba were among the scorers in what was the club’s biggest league win of the season.
