Rugby Union ready to start rugby action

Uganda Rugby Union is now ready to have some rugby action for the year 2021.

This is after a communication confirming March 6 as the date for the return to play of rugby in the country.

The union has a round table discussion with club chairmen before coming up with the plan to have the game back.

"Get your boots ready! We had a Chairmen’s round table discussion this evening and they agreed to return to play on 6th March,2021." Rugby Union announced through their Twitter handle on Monday evening.

The league is set to be played in a single round robin format with 10 teams participating.

More questions remain, however, in regards to determining host venues to eliminate home advantage for some sides.

It is almost a year since Ugandan players last played competitive rugby and will now have just a month to prepare for action.

The union will also have to follow all the standard operating procedures put in place by the Ministry of Health.

Betway Kobs finished last season with success in the Sevens Championship and also won the Uganda Cup.

They finished second in the league and will now be dusting their boots to compete for more silverware.
