Rugby Cranes Search For Gold Cup Victory

After drawing 33-33 with the Kenya Simbas over the weekend, the Rugby Cranes are already in Senegal for their second and final away game of this year's Africa Gold Cup.

John Duncan's charges started the campaign with a stalemate in Nairobi after conceding a late penalty try. Full back Philip Wokorach made up for his lacklustre show in Kampala with a 100% kicking display. He scored four penalties and converted all the three tries scored by the Cranes on the day. Michael Wokorach, Mathias Ochwo and Brian Ababa all crossed the white line at the RFUEA Grounds.

Kenya chose to look for tries early in the game but their efforts to break the Ugandan defence line went futile until Darwin Mukidza decided to go for points and get the home side onto the scoreboard. Uganda led by seven points deep into the second half until conceding a penalty try that leveled matters for the home side to share spoils in the first game of the Africa Gold Cup.
The Cranes have already landed in Dakar, Senegal ahead of this weekend's clash with Senegal. Senegal lost 16-28 to the Zimbabwe Sables in their first game and will be hoping to redeem their hopes of challenging for the title.
