Elgon Cup
Kenya 13-16 Uganda
It was a rare feeling for all the Ugandans who made the trip to Kisumu town for the first leg of this year's Elgon Cup.
The Rugby Cranes rallied to win in Kenya for the first time in six years with a 13-16 victory at the Mamboleo Show Ground.
Betway Kobs back Adrian Kasito, starting as the fullback, cut through the hosts' back line to touch down and give Uganda the lead.
His conversion attempt went just wide but Aaron Ofoyrwoth soon extended the lead to 08-00 with a penalty.
Ofoyrwoth added another penalty to put the Cranes in control towards halftime.
Uganda's midfield of Betway Kobs duo of Pius Ogena and Ian Munyani put in a shift in defence to keep the hosts scoreless.
Dominic Culson would later reduce the deficit with Kenya's first points on board from a penalty as the two sides went into the halftime break.
Santos Ssenteza landed Uganda's other try in the second half and Ofoywroth sent his conversion attempt wide.
The Simbas kept knocking and eventually substitute Griffin Musila went over for Kenya's first try of the game.
Kenya's efforts pushed Uganda to the wall and they used an overlap to set up Jeff Okwach to reduce the deficit to 13-16 but there was no more time left on the clock.
