Russian star Andrey Rublev will be looking to win the 2020 European Open title for the first time.

Rublev has achieved victories over top players including Roger Federer, Dominic Thiem, Stan Wawrinka and Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The Moscow-born player will be making his debut appearance in the European Open.

Rublev has won four singles titles thus far which are the 2017 Croatia Open in Umag, the 2019 Kremlin Cup the 2020 Qatar Open, and the 2020 Adelaide International.

Known for his powerful first serve that often reaches 200+ km/h (125+ mph), Rublev is now keen to clinch his fifth singles title by winning the European Open.

His running forehand is particularly lethal because of his consistency and comfort with the shot, making many passing shots with it.

Rublev is pleased to have become the eighth Russian player to make the Top 10 by ascending to world number 10.

"I’m happy, of course. But it was not about [making the] Top 10. If you are 11 or 12 or 10, it’s the same thing," Rublev said.

"I think the main goal for me [is to test] if my level is really Top 10; if I can stay there, if I can be there, if I can improve more.

"It's one thing to be there for one week or two weeks. It's another thing to deserve to be there. For the moment I don’t feel that I deserve to be there," he added.

"But I will do my best to be able to compete, to be a better player and to improve more and more and more. I hope I will be there because I deserve it."
