Fiorentina have revealed that their club captain and defender is nursing an injury ahead of their clash with Roma.
"Fiorentina announces that the footballer German Pezzella was forced to leave during the first half of the match against Udinese due to a sprained trauma of his right ankle."
"The player's condition will be assessed over the next few days. Footballer Pol Lirola left the ground following blunt trauma to his right ankle," a club statement read.
The last meeting between Roma and Fiorentina in a league game was on 26 July 2020.
The Yellow and Reds ran out 2-1 winners over the Purple One in a match which was played at the Stadio Olimpico.
