AS Roma will battle with Cagliari Calcio in an
Italian Serie A match at the Stadio Olimpico on December 23.
The Yellow and Reds were thumped 4-1 by Atalanta away in their previous league match which was played on December 20. The defeat ended Roma's three-match unbeaten run, during which period they registered two consecutive victories and one draw.
However, they are unbeaten in their last 10 home matches in Serie A having recorded three draws and seven victories.
Gianluca Mancini, the Roma defender, says they should learn from their defeat to Atalanta ahead of their clash with Cagliari.
“We need to put the work in but we are not worse than these teams," Mancini said.
"In the first half we showed that we can play at their level, but we need to accelerate our development and growth.
“Conceding four goals is no good, you need to keep yourselves in the game and give yourself the chance to get back into it. We need to put in the work to avoid collapses like that.”
Meanwhile, Cagliari were held to a 1-1 draw by Udinese at home in their previous league match which was played on December 20.
As a result, the Islanders are winless in their last six matches having recorded two defeats and four draws. Cagliari are also winless in their last four away matches in Serie A having registered two successive draws and two defeats in a row.
The last meeting between Roma and Cagliari in a league game was on 1 March 2020. Roma ran out 4-3 winners over Cagliari in a match which was played at the Sardegna Arena.
