I Giallorossi started the season with a 3-0 loss away to Hellas Verona but a 2-2 draw at home to champions Juventus was followed by a 1-0 victory over Udinese before the international break, thanks to a second-half strike from Pedro.

“We said it was going to be a difficult game and it was," Fonseca told DAZN in the aftermath.

“In the first half, we continually played in Udinese's final third, but they were dangerous when breaking on the counter. We weren't aggressive enough when we lost possession, but still created good situations.

“After the break, we managed to get the goal and the team remained united to bring home the result, which was the most important thing.

“Roma are a very attack-minded team, but Udinese's style in the closing stages forced us to sit deeper. The team is playing well with Lorenzo Pellegrini in his current midfield position and we'll see in future whether he remains there."
