Red Eagles target consistency after Wakiso show

Only once this season have Express managed to win consecutive games in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League this season.

That is a statistic they will be keen to improve as they enter the final bend of the first round. That starts with a home game against Maroons on Tuesday evening before fixtures against URA, KCCA and Tooro.

They go into the game on the back of their fourth win of the campaign following Saturday’s 3-0 demolition of Wakiso Giants.

The result in perhaps another indicator of a young team, was also the third win away from home for coach George Ssimwogerere’s charges who seem to thrive away from the pressure of the Wankulukuku crowd.
This has seen them win only once in five home games going thus far.  They should however not be short of confidence considering the form of their front trio of Disan Galilwango and the two Franks, Kalanda and Ssenyondo.

All three were on target on Saturday with Galilwango scoring the opening goal after collecting a loose ball from midfield. He then drove forward before seeing his shot blocked by Wakiso Giants goalkeeper Yasin Mugabi.
The ball however fell kindly into his path with his diving header then looping over the out of position goalkeeper for his third goal of the campaign.

Express then got their second goal in the second half after Ssenyondo beat Swaibu Mudde before finding an unmarked Kalanda who was left with the simplest of tap-ins for his fifth goal this season.  The tally is two goals short of lead scorer Fahad Bayo with seven goals.

The third goal again saw the two Franks combining with Kalanda returning the favour after flicking the ball into Ssenyondo’s path.

The forward’s initial shot was saved by Mugabi and when the ball returned to him, showed composure to round the goalkeeper before slotting home.

The result lifted Express to ninth position with 13 points after 11 games, three points short of today’s opponents Maroons who are sixth.
