Express get their 2020/2021 season underway on Saturday after making the seven-hour road trip to Arua to play Onduparaka.
And following an off-season in which the club has continued to make tremendous strides in improving player welfare and the club administration, the onus is now on the technical team to produce the required results.
Head coach Wasswa Bbosa admitted as much recently as the club announced the extension of their partnership with main sponsors Betway Uganda.
"Even when we last won the league in 2012, there was not as much organisation as there is now," Bossa said, earlier, ahead of the Red Eagles opening game away at Onduparaka in Arua today.
"So imagine what we can now do at Express where the conditions are the most favourable compared to all the clubs I have worked with!
"Winning the title is the target but if we can finish in the top 3, that's not bad, too,” Bbosa said at the function.
The club has made 18 signings in the off-season including the acquisition of experienced Cranes defender Murushid Jjuuko but mixed it up will several exciting prospects including Ivan Mayanja.
“I am happy to have signed for express fc, it’s a club I’ve always wanted to join and now that’s it done, the work starts immediately.”
“I am ready to help the team achieve the desired goal which is winning silverware” Mayanja stated at his unveiling.
The majority of the new players are expected to play a part in the game on Saturday except forward Mustafa Kiragga who was still awaiting clearance after his move from South Africa.
Last season Express left Arua with maximum points after Frank Senyondo scored the lone goal in what was Bbosa’s first league game in charge.
The win proved vital as it set the team on a run of three wins, a draw and one loss in five games to climb four places up to ninth position before the league was brought to a halt as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic.
