Pyramids sack Desabre but stats prove otherwise

Former Uganda Cranes Desabre Sebastien has left Egyptian club Pyramids barely six months into his new two-year contract.

Frenchman Desabre only last five months at the moneybags Pyramids and was showed the exit door following Tuesday’s 3-2 loss to El Gouna in the Egyptian Premier League.

The result left Pyramids with 12 points from eight matches in seventh place while log leaders Al Ahly have 21 points from seven outings.

“As always, working in Egypt was an honour. Unfortunately, football is impatient and we have to accept it,” Desabre posted a tribute via Facebook.

“I wish good luck to the team for the next challenges. I also thank the owners of the clubs who have an ambitious and long-term vision to make Pyramids FC a stable and successful institution. See you soon on the fields!” added the 43-year-old.

Certainly, it turns out Pyramids were impatient. Desabre won 14 and drew four of his 18 matches in charge. And that includes a flawless streak including seven wins and a draw in the Caf Confederation Cup.

Before coaching the Cranes between December, 2017 to July this year, Desabre had previously coached at Ismaily in Egypt.

He led Uganda to the last 16, losing 1-0 to eventual finalists Senegal at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Desabre is the second coach to lose his job in Egypt this season, following Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic, who parted ways with Zamalek.
