Pirates Host Heathens While Kobs face Hippos

Buzz Pirates will face their toughest challenge in the national rugby league when they host defending champions Hima Cement Heathens at Legends on Saturday.

Having sailed through their opening fixture against Makerere Impis with a 43-03 win, the Sea Robbers will hope for a third straight victory over the Kyadondo outfit. Players like Alema Ruhweza and Denis Etuket watched from the stands as Bobby Musinguzi’s charges ran over Makerere Impis to at Makerere and will be expected back in the squad for the hefty clash.

Raymond Emanzi, Richard Odekere, Baron Kasozi, James Mugisha, Haruna Muhammad and Frank Kidega all crossed the white chalk for Pirates in the opener while Joel Anguyo sank four conversions to put the hosts to the sword. The win, which was highly expected, is only expected to put Pirates in a good position ahead of their clash with Heathens. According to veteran Etuket, the big clash presents Pirates the opportunity to gain the psychological edge over their rivals. “This weekend is about gaining the psychological edge over Heathens,”

Etuket revealed ahead of the game.Pirates will be without Desire Ruhweza who was selected for the World HSBC rugby series. Heathens will also be without Michael Wokorach.

Having opened their campaign with a commanding 43-00 victory against Makerere Rams, Betway Kobs travel to Jinja to face Hippos at Dam Waters. Justin Kimono, Adrian Kasiito, Alhajji Manano and Adrian Kasiito who all touched down for Ronnie Lutakome’s troops in the opener will carry the mantle in search of a second straight win.

Ahead of the World HSBC rugby series, national team head coach Tolbert Onyango named his 12-man squad for the Dubai and Cape Town editions.
Only three new names join the fold that won the Africa Cup with Timothy Mudoola, Aaron Ofoyrwoth and Desire Ruhweza getting the nod.
Adrian Kasiito and Timothy Kisiga missed out on the selection due to school commitments.
