Philip Wokorach ready for big things in France

Ugandan international Philip Wokorach has been on an upward trajectory since he started playing the beautiful game of rugby as part of the Kyadondo tag rugby program.

That he made a move from Kenya's Kabras Sugar to French side Bourges XV was testimony that the sensational back is still the most prized asset in Ugandan rugby.

The star has continued to enhance his reputation on the world stage and will now feature for Fédérale 1 (Division 3) side Avenir Sportif Bédarrides-Chateuneuf du Pape (A.S.B.C).

The move, according to the man himself, is a game changer in his career and it is an opportunity he can't afford to take for granted.

"The new move brings me more exposure since  the new club has given me a platform to work with professional players and also play against top teams," Wokorach said when contacted for a comment on his new move.

Wokorach has featured for Stallions, Buffaloes, Heathens, Kabras Sugar and Bourges XV but his new home ranks higher than all his previous sides.

"The competitive nature of the new division will help me develop my skills and also learn to work in a professional environment.

The Rugby Cranes international is, however staying grounded and ready to pounce when handed an opportunity by his new tutors.

"I don’t Want to raise my expectations/ targets but am sure I will give my all whenever I am given the chance to and the rest will follow,"

Having played for Hanah Mixed School in the Schools Rugby League as a high school student, Wokorach is calling upon the Uganda Rugby Union to put emphasis on grassroots rugby as a way of giving players a chance at an early age.

"We need more emphasis on grassroots and schools' rugby because it’s where it all starts from and that’s what they are doing here (France)."

Wokorach took part in his very first training with the new club on Wednesday last week and is ready for action whenever called upon.
