The Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics will do battle in a
2020-21 NBA Regular Season game at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on the morning of 23 January 2021.
The 76ers have shown signs of promise in recent games, particularly a 125-108 victory over the Heat in Miami this past weekend – a match which featured a triple double from All Star Ben Simmons.

He was speculated to be part of a trade which could have brought James Harden to Philadelphia, but has put that behind him and is just happy to be helping the 76ers as they look to improve their season record.
"I mean, this is a business," Simmons said of the trade speculation. "Things like that happen. Only thing I can control is, you know, how I approach my workouts, the games and my day-to-day thing. So, you know, I'm just trying to be professional and to do the right thing and help my team get wins."
The Celtics, meanwhile, have been wildly erratic in recent times, following an impressive 124-97 win over the Orlando Magic with a blowout 105-75 loss to the New York Knicks this past weekend, though that game at least saw the return of key man Kemba Walker.

Celtics coach Brad Stevens has also sung the praises of Senegalese centre Tacko Fall: "Everybody loves what he brings to the table as far as a teammate, a worker, a guy. He spends a lot of time on his skill. I think they were more excited about the ball handling at the top of the key and then the drive but that’s a good thing. Being back in the gym and being back together smiling is a good thing.”
In head-to-head terms, the 76ers and the Celtics have met in 452 Regular Season games since 1949-50. Boston have claimed 262 wins compared to 190 for Philadelphia.
The teams met four times in the Regular Season in 2019-20, with the 76ers claiming three wins before the Celtics won 116-95 in February. Boston also swept Philadelphia 4-0 in the first round of the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
