Onduparaka Return To Their Roots With CSR End Of Year Activities

“Charity begins at home” is an often used maxim that could fittingly be used when talking Onduparaka Football Club and Onduparaka Church of Uganda.

The Church is very much  home to the team having offered the Arua-based club land on which the current Betway Greenlight Stadium sits during its inception seven years ago.

Following the gesture, few would have ever imagined the club developing as fast as it has turned out.  Seven years later, and backed by sponsors Betway Uganda, the club returned to its home.

This time as part of what has now become an annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activity by contributing to the Onduparaka church building project.

The development aimed at improving accommodation for the clergy saw the club led by team manager Joe Eremah, donate 50 Iron sheets at a colourful function held at the church as the year drew to a close on December 31.

“Thank you so much because what you have done comes at a Time when the Church was Praying to God and Asking for a Way through for the Development of the Church,” Said the Main Reverand of the church in his appreciation Speech.

We are Grateful to Onduparaka FC and the Management for Thinking about us and we can only call this a Miracle and an Answered Prayer from God,” he added.

After the function, the team then proceeded to Onduparaka Primary School where they also offered 100 plastic chairs to the school.

The donation was received by the chairman School Management Committee William Ondoya and other staff members of the School.

“We are thankful for the hearts that conceded this idea to give back to the school despite the many people in the community that the school is helping but haven‘t thought of supporting the School.

“We also thank the players and talent in the club for their enthusiasm in making us famous,” he said.

The CSR activities climaxed with a walk through the trading centre of Onduparaka as the team distributed merchandise to the locals from the club and its sponsors.

The 2017 calendar year has been hugely successful for Onduparaka with the team finishing fifth in their maiden topflight league season and currently occupy fourth position ahead of the league second round that starts next month.

This year the team was also able to extend their partnership with main sponsors Betway to a tune of shs600m for the 2017/2018 season.
