Onduparaka

Onduparaka continues to impress in the Azam Uganda Premier League where they boast the only unbeaten home record since earning promotion at the end of the 2015/2016 season. The Betway-sponsored club is fourth on the log and has managed two wins in five away games thus far, an improvement on their away form that was the club’s Achilles heel last season.

A new challenge however now seems to have sprung up. A drop in consistency has seen the side score only twice in the last five games. But with those goals having come in the club’s previous two games, a 2-1 away defeat to bright Stars and Saturday’s 1-0 home win over Kirinya-Jinja, they will hope to have turned the corner ahead of today’s game. The Caterpillars return to league action when they make the long trip to Masaka to play traditional giants SC Villa. Despite the indifferent form, Onduparaka arrive in Masaka level on 19 points with their hosts with the two teams having split the only two previous meetings. The clash looks destined for goals with Onduparaka having won 4-3 in Arua last season before losing 4-1 in the return leg fixture in Masaka.

They will however be able to call on goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato who has been one of the club’s shining lights and scored the penalty in the 1-0 win over Kirinya. The custodian who will also be playing against one of his former sides has brought a calming influence in goal keeping eight clean sheets in 11 games thus far. He was rewarded for the outstanding form by winning the club’s September player of the month accolade.
Upfront, coaches Livingstone Mbabazi, Leo Adraa and Moses Oloya have a strong decision to make whether to keep faith with another former Villa player in Karim Ndugwa or give another chance to youngster Ezra Bida. Villa on the other hand come into the game on the back of a 1-0 win over Bright Stars on Saturday.
