Ogena ensures Kobs maintain title hopes

The national rugby league will take a break this weekend as the national team takes on the French Pacific army on Saturday.

Betway Kobs go into the break with the hope of lifting the title on the last day of the season when they take on Shell Rimula Rhinos.

A bonus point win over DusuPay Warriors over the weekend was enough to ensure Kobs kept the pressure on table leaders Hima Cement Heathens.

Pius Ogena was in fine form and put up a man of the match performance as the side registered maximum points from the game.

Ogena ensures Kobs maintain title hopes

The stubborn Warriors made it hard for the Uganda cup holders as the two teams went into the halftime break with scores levelled at 7 all.

Kobs had been awarded a penalty try in the first half after hooker Faraj Odugo was illegally stopped within 5 yards of the try line.

Ogena twice left the Warriors defence in disbelief to touch down. Having been injured in the reverse fixture in the first round, it was sweet revenge for the Kobs' forward.

Team captain Brian Asaba scored the bonus point try with the clock ticking away to keep the gap between the Blue Army and Heathens at 3 points.

Heathens, who destroyed Rams 53-18 at Kyadondo, will be crowned champions if they defeat Warriors in their last game. Kobs have to win their last game and hope Heathens falter.
