Ochwo Returns As Rugby Cranes Team Is Named

Former Rugby Cranes captain Mathias Ochwo has been named in the 27-man squad to travel to Nairobi for Uganda's first game in the Africa Gold Cup.
With just a few days until Uganda's first match, the team was named on Tuesday morning and is set to travel to Nairobi Thursday morning. Only one change will be made to the starting team with veteran Ochwo replacing Robert Aziku at number 4. Ochwo last played for the Rugby Cranes in 2015. Aziku made his debut against Kenya in the first leg of the Elgon Cup but hasn't made the 27 ahead of Saturday's game.

Ivan Kirabo and Ivan Magomu will stay as the team's half backs while Pius Ogena and Michael Okorach also retain their positions in the midfield. Cox Muhigwa, Gerald Ssewakambo, Kevin Makmot, Santos Senteza,  Joseph Tamale and Ronald Musajja are the other players given a chance having missed the Elgon Cup first leg. There are no places for Aziku and Aaron Ofoyrwoth, who both made their national team debuts against Kenya. Center Eric Mula will miss the game with school commitments.

Uganda will connect straight to Senegal after the Kenya game ahead of the July 1 tie with the West African side. Only 23 players will travel to Dakar and the rest will return to Uganda after the Kenya clash.
