Express rue missed chances in second defeat of the season

UGANDA PREMIER LEAGUE: UPDF 1-0 Express

Express assistant coach James Odoch was left wondering what has gone wrong with the team after yet another defeat in the Uganda Premier League.

The defending champions have missed big chances in the first two games and gone on to lose 2-0 to Arua Hill and 1-0 to UPDF.

“We played well but couldn’t score, for the last two games that has been our problem,” Odoch said after his side’s loss to UPDF on Saturday.

Veteran midfielder Musa Mudde scored the only goal of the game to condemn Express to a second defeat in as many games.

“We create chances but don’t convert so we’re going back to the drawing board to correct our mistakes and we shall bounce back better,” Odoch added.

Express couldn’t find the way even after UPDF were reduced to ten men in the 28th minute.

Forward Ivan Ahimbisibwe was given marching orders by centre referee Shamila Nabada after elbowing goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa in an aerial challenge.

The army side however held their nerve to keep the game scoreless going into the halftime break.

In the 56th minute, Nicholas Kasozi handled the ball in the box and the referee pointed to the spot.

Musa Mudde made no mistake from the resultant penalty and gave the army side the lead.

Express must now bounce back against BUL FC in their next game to arrest the crisis and put points on board.
